Vietnam is one of the most gay-friendly countries in South East Asia. Same sex relationships and marriages are legal in Vietnam and Viet Pride marches take place in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Vietnamese people are extremely hospitable and welcoming and provided you show discretion and respect for local culture you will not experience any problems in Vietnam. There is a low-key gay culture in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a number of gay friendly and gay owned establishments. In the smaller towns and villages that have not yet been fully exposed to LGBT culture you may experience some side glances; this is curiosity not hostility.
